Review of Waddesdon: A parish and village positioned 9.5 kilometres to the west of the large town of Aylesbury, Waddesdon is an ancient agricultural area having a church which dates from the thirteenth century. Waddesdon Manor: The Renaissance style Waddesdon Manor House was subsequently erected by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, copying a sixteenth century French chateau, right down to the wine cellars. The estate passed down to Ferdinand's sister, Alice Charlotte de Rothschild, in 1898, after Ferdinand passed away at Waddesdon Manor on the same day as his birth in 1898. Waddesdon Manor was meant as a family home and also to house Baron Rothschild's enormous collection of art, furniture and tapestries.
