Review of Waddesdon: A traditional farming community with a 13th century parish church, Waddesdon is situated approximately ten kilometres west of the town of Aylesbury in The Vale of Aylesbury. Well known as the location of the magnificent Waddesdon Manor, built by the affluent Rothschilds dynasty in the Renaissance style of a 16th century French chateau (these days administered by the National Trust), Waddesdon has been largely an estate village since the end of the nineteenth century.

Still dominated by buildings constructed for the Rothschild family (the village hall, the Five Arrows hotel and housing built for manor employees), the village today houses a population of around 2,100 (in 2011). Previously connected with near by Aylesbury by way of rail, Waddesdon train station has long since closed down and the village can only be got to by road (namely the A41).
