Review of Waddesdon: A parish and village to be found nine and a half km to the west of the town of Aylesbury, Waddesdon is an ancient farming community that has a church first built in the 13th century. Well known as the location of the eye-catching Waddesdon Manor, constructed by the well-heeled Rothschilds family in the Renaissance style of a 16th century French chateau (currently administered by the National Trust), Waddesdon has been largely an estate village since the end of the 19th century.

With a present populace of about 2,000 (2011), modern day Waddesdon is still dominated by buildings built for the Rothschilds (the Five Arrows hotel, the village hall, and houses built for manor personnel). Until the 1930's linked with neighbouring Aylesbury by way of train, Waddesdon train station is long shut down & the village can only be got to by road (the A41). The parish of Waddesdon (together with Eythrope, Westcott, Wormstone and Woodham) covers a little over seven thousand acres.
